Yutaka,
As always, I love how you juxtapose your objects in your compositions.
Next time you use flash like that, try a difuser over the flash to reduce the contrast. Like white tissue paper or tracing paper. I think you'll like the effect. :) Oh, and I'm guessing the shadow is the lens hood. :(

A beautiful fragment of nature's infinite variety, Yutaka. Your photos never cease to amaze me, as they always carry such a strong feeling of Japan, even when the subject is simply lichen, or a leaf... you manage to convey something of the essence of Japanese culture, aesthetics, beliefs in such a profound way. I don't know how to explain it, really... you just have the knack!
