About Most jellyfish pass through two different body forms during their life cycle. The first is the polyp stage, when the jellyfish takes the form of either a sessile stalk which catches passing food, or a similar free-floating configuration. The polyp's mouth and tentacles face upwards.

In the second stage, the jellyfish is known as a medusa. Medusae have a radially symmetric, umbrella-shaped body called a bell. The medusa's tentacles hang from the border of the bell. (Medusa is also the Hebrew and Spanish word for jellyfish.)

It is, in fact, a feather seen at microscope in polarized light + AutoFX Mystical Light Filter.
The idea with the polyp, was only an artistic comparativeness.

I love the detail in this image, especially where the feathers overlap and form little crosses. Looks like lace. CC

Great, I'll check it out. My son has been wanting me to post on deviantart.com... I've seen the site, lots of very cool stuff there.

Best wishes,
Dave

I take all type of photos, but on this site I decide to post only microscopic images.
A more diverse gallery I have on http://dgheban.deviantart.com/

Interesting and appealing macro, Dan. Looks like you really concentrate on close-up work, something I have no patience for.

Best wishes,
Dave
