About
Loop Loop Apples were grown in Malott. Loop Loop is named after Loop Loop Charlie and Indian who knew a shortcut to Twisp-Winthrop area. When the pioneers entered this area they traveled by river and the gold mines were located out of Winthrop above the town of Mazama and then up in the mountains to Harts Pass that took another week to get there. It took a week to get to Winthrop from Okanogan. One day to get to Brewster another to get to Methow and then the third day to get to Winthrop. Loop Loop Charlie could leave Okanogan and go over the mountains (Loop Loop Pass) to Winthrop and return the next day. Today there is a road going over the mountains called Loop Loop Pass and named after Loop Loop Charlie.
Interesting 'About'...Never eaten Loop Loop Apples, but I would if I had one now...I'm a simple 'Gala' apple eater but I do like me a 'Fuji' apple to swap things up a bit...Great Story Ernie... Loop Loop Charlie sounds like a cool Indian...
