Thanks Paul, for that. I have already downloaded that site and in the process of reading it up. I will take your advice on 'half-noise' setting and see what happens. Now about those 'sisters'....... Cheers JD

LOL! Yes, and their *sisters* have sisters! I don't know when I'll complete this drudgery of photographing them all. ;)
FYI, I tried the free version of Neat Image, and was impressed enough to buy their + version. They also offer specific imaging profiles for your camera's sensor. My most-used setting is 'remove half of the noise' which does a splendid job without visibly affecting any of the image textures.

Paul, I really appreciate the lead. I will look into this as it might be able to rectify some of my film shots that have grain DEEPLY embedded. ps Took a peek at your portfolio and couldn't help but noyice your Harem ! Do they have any sisters !! Cheers, mate. JD

Nice shot, John. If you've not tried it, there is some very nice software, called Neat Image which only does one thing: remove noise. There is a free version available at neatimage.com
