Yup, Rina -- Gene had his own special roll. If you come visit us we will make one up for you too. We are very sophisticated here in Maryland. --Jan

I was hoping you'd say that was his own special toilet paper there. No banana leaves or stray sheep for this guy!

LOL Jan... Why were my first thoughts of *wonder if there's any acorns swimming below*... also wondering whether Gene will now have a penchant for loo paper...:)))
I can't for the life of me stop laughing at the comments from the others... Especially AJ's 'through the basket in the bowl'... :)))
Was hard being off line while we were doing the change over... ~~GRIN~~ I have a lot to catch up on...

Biljana -- Gene is quite a world traveller and there will be other USEFILM members posting his pictures as visits various places. He is a good little guy and I bet he would get along with Hogar if they were to meet. --Hugs to you and the best regards to all those you love, Jan

And that's why we love you Jan.....we are rather partial to nuts! Great story that I've only just seen as I'm so busy packing boxes for the move to Spain....and yes I do know all about the drains....maybe it's better to use the woods! ;)

Beks -- Thanks so much for coming by to see Gene and commenting on his sanitary habits. Our cat Roland would NEVER allow his sand box to be shared; he is very fussy about that sort of thing. Gene on the other hand does not seem to care where he goes but at least for now he is sticking with the special seat and place that I have provided. Gene is having a good time but eating honey at an alarming rate. He tried some steamed crabs last night but did not care for them too much. --Best to you, Jan

Faeces-shuss don't you mean AJ?!!! Hope you know Jan you are perverting the course of nature here.... I realise his bear butt may be suffering, and certainly your toilet would be closer to the woods, but this is a little extreme don't you think? Does your cat have a spare litter tray...?
Very cool pic Jan, nice to see Gene is enjoying himself. cheers, Beks

Well, of course I was being just a little facetious... and it's almost impossible to flush the basket! But then logic is not a strong characteristic of Al Andalus.

AJ -- I believe he has an itinerary for a number of visits. Doyle and Marlyce get him back after each trip (at least so far) and then he ships out from their place. See Doyle's profile for his email address and if you are interested in hosting let him know by email. He can work something out with you. --Best to you, Jan

BTW, I see you've CC'd this now. Well, I have to say that in Spain, we use the basket behind the bowl for USED paper. Blocks the drains, you know...

Re your comment to Srna: does Gene really not have an onward ticket or is he simply missing Doyle and Marlyce? He would be most welcome on this side of the pond (assuming those men in uniform would let him in), but I would need to know his proposed travel day so that I could let him know whether to fly into Gibraltar, or Warsaw, or Belgrade, or Manchester, or Podgorica, or erm, oh is it Tuesday? Then it must be Bucharest...

Thanks for the help with the translation, Doyle. Your Spanish skills are a million miles beyond mine.
I buy the frozen poppers by the box and love them, regardless of the price I pay after eating them. There are several brands available here at local stores. I thought "oo" instead of "o" might be more appropriate given the inevitable results of eating a large quantity. --Best to you, Jan

LoL -
Translation of that last comment by Roberto is: "Very original my friend, in all seriousness I like your your shots since they are very original and they are very creative, happy ones and I hope you continue delighting me with your work, greetings and we are in contact by this medium." - though my Spanish is also rough I suspect thats the working, though not literal translation. Also . . . . they ARE called 'Poppers' here . . . deep fried Jalepenos!! ;)

Well now, guess the answer to the age old question is NO, not if the bear is staying with the Hoffmans...such an accommodating host you are Jan! Good to see Gene arrived safely and looking forward this leg of his journey, I have a feeling he's in for some fun...us too!
Ever since I heard he would make a stop here, my wheels have been spinning...plotting and scheming ;)
Take care...Robin

Srna -- Thanks so much for checking out little Gene. He is a wonderful guest, very cute and he loves to eat honey. He sleeps in the guest bedroom with my cat, Roland, and they are both very quiet at night. Today he is going to visit a very old Maryland city with lots of history and old buildings. He will be here for the upcoming week before flying back to Doyle and Marlyce. --Best to you, Jan

Thanks for commenting, AJ. I believe the hat is a Pilgrim's hat. Like the Pilgrims in the Colonies around 1620; those that were the early settlers in the US. --Jan

Ah, so that's where Gene's got to! Good to hear he's settling in, despite his upset tummy. He should be very careful not to slip off that seat. Could send him on an unexpected detour.
Incidentally, is the hat a religious thing or is he just very fond of it?
