I wish I had taken this one. The contrast between the smoothness of the cream and the roughness of the hand is incredible

I find such photos interesting- not always the faces of people, but their hands and feet that tell stories about the individuals.
Very special situation that I didn´t think I would find in San Francisco - a man polishing shoes for people in the streets. Typical sportsshoes instead of fine leathershoes for men.
Much could be said about this suggestive photo.
Very good light by the way.
Best wishes
Annemette

Rick -- This is a classic photo; wonderful "street" texture of the tightly cropped view of the hard working hands. It is the kind of glimpse that we often see and register in our minds but don't take the time to portray.
Excellent!!!

Wow impressive capture Rick!! That speaks a lot. I like the way you framed it allowing to focus the eye on the hand. The result is very surprising because without seing his face, one can feel the concentration of the man on his work, just by the position and the movement of the hand that one can guess. The use of DOF is well done and leads to this concentration effect. I have just one small regret : it concerns the small part of the shoe on the right corner which attracts a little bit the eye. I would probably try to crop a little bit more to decrease its effect.
Anyway this is a really nice composition.
Congrats Rick
