Hi Kes, Too bad you don't have the sheep in your backyard. You could save money and time on mowing the lawn... also fertilizer. :) Andre

Thinking about a better way to say that, Andre...
The deer are found throughout the state; the sheep are found in certain canyonlands.

Hi Andre, this was underexposed and when post brightening/contrast changes were made the colors were a bit saturated. At least that's how it worked out with Picasa2.
The sheep habitat overlaps with the deer. The deer are more widespread and the sheep are found in the canyons with rocky cliffs. We don't have sheep in our yard. Yet. :) Kes

Hi Kes, You have some interesting colour in this shot. Did you do anything different to it? Do these guys run free close to where you live the same as the deers? Andre

Hi Tim, This one was about...50 feet? away. I work for the Colorado Dept. of Trans. This was taken from a piece of heavy equipment that i was operating...
They initially ran off 50' or so...then came browsing back in a few minutes (shut the machine off). Funny thing is that you (i) can get closer in a vehicle than on foot. On foot, as long as they can see you, they will allow you to get to within 100' or so.
Hopefully one of these days i'll get a shot of the rams cracking heads, although that's a good time to have a video camera. Sometimes you can hear their horns hit from 100 yards away over the din of the river. Too cool. They rear up on their hind legs and litterally jump into each other making contact with their horns. Then they just stand there for a few minutes looking at each other (or maybe they just stand there not seeing anything!) then they do it again. They'll do that for hours. Not the smartest critters by appearances, lol.

Nice composition Kes... funny name, ha!! Also this bighorn sheep looks awful big to have such little horns... I like your perspective and focus, and details of the landscape too... Nicely done, nice job too since you shot this at work :)) Michele~
