Cool, she's one smart young lady! Maybe you'll make it up to the Yukon or other places in the north and see them for yourselves someday? They're quite the amazing sight to behold! Thanks for the comment! Gary :)

Josie and I were just browsing your photos. She was able to identify that these were the Northern Lights before reading the description. "Excellent!" is Josie's comment.:)

hahaha Kelly... no that you mention it, maybe mom did drop me?? Oh well, I'm not really a cold weather person, but I seem to be up in the cold places an awful lot! Another month or so to go here, then off to Baffin and Greenland this summer! Cheers, Gary

Hi Kelly, yep, I'm one lucky dog! When I first got here the temps were down to -35 to -40°C with strong winds so the wind chills were much lower. But I can't complain with being able to see the northern lights from time to time. There have been some pretty amazing displays! Thanks for the comment and cheers from the middle of a blizzard! Gary :)
ps you should make a point of going up to Whitehorse in the Yukon in mid to late September or October to see the lights. Well worth the cold to see them.

Wow, you lucky dog. I have alway wanted to see those wonderful lights. One of these days!!! I always am so glued to the TV when I see these come on. It must be so surreal to see them in person!!!! Nice capture with the beautiful shade of green and wonderful soft pattern. I love this!!! Kelly

hi Zamrud... it's the northern lights ( the aurora borealis). It's caused by the solar wind interacting with the earth's magnetic field. Very common in more northerly latitudes, though not always very bright. They are amazing to see as they dance across the night sky! Cheers, Gary
ps this is the way it came out of my camera, no ps work at all except to resize.

I like it. It's similar to some of my luxagraphic work, only the sky is doing all the moving for you. Well framed, by the way.
