About Last night I was down at the harbour in Hundested. It was freezing cold, so I could hardly hold the camera. Good that I had a tripod with me:-) I took this photo of an ugly weirdlooking building that suddenly looked appealing to me in the last light before it turned completely dark.

Exactly- the colours are much more striking at wintertime, but I didnīt really knew why until u told me now! Thank you for that info:-)

I really DO love that evening moment, when there is such a palette of blues in the sky.

And winter skies give such a better view of this, as there is lower humidity.

Yes, I see now what you mean talking about a train:-) Itīs interesting what people see in a photo because it varies a lot.
Thank you for your interest!

Love the composition. From afar it reminded me of a train winding down it's track.
I love the strong colours sympathize with you and the cold. But the results are outstanding.
The building at a closer look a firmly planted and seem to watch the sun finally set.

Fish have scales (feathers are evolutionarily modified scales); and one would use a scale to weigh something (a balance scale like justice holds); and there are scales for measuring gradients (like the Richter scale for assessing earthquake intensity). I think those are all.

Yes, indeed thatīs what I meant:-)- so "scales" have different meanings in English it seems.

James Cook James Cook   {K:38068} 4/5/2007
Yep, that's pretty much true.

Oh, and when you say skæl above, I imagine that's what fish have? Because we use the same word in English, scales, which I estimate is pronounced the same way.

THank you:-) Iīm so happy you like it, Doyle:-) I found out that it was interesting having sunsets and buildings instead of the usual landscapes. It provides another feel to it.
Take care and happy Easter to you, Marlyce and the rest of the family including those with feathers, fur and "skæl"(donīt know the English word-sorry)

Is it possible to have two BIPs for the same project? :)
I love the angles, the colours and the way the small clouds and sky reflect off the windows.
Very nice job on both of these night shots Annemette!

I actually prefer this one over the other, but then again I don't give out awards. Keep up the good work.

Thank you for your comment - yes, itīs incredible what light means to a place or thing - something that Patrick Crowther here on UF knows something about.

An elegant and simple composition of lines and colors.
I know what you mean with the title, I know many places that looks horrible (and actually they are)
that turns interesting as the light go down.
Davide.

Wow... Amazing sunset! The colors are superb, and the way you framed it all (with the building) is great.

What a wonderful comment to receive:-) Thank you very much, Emiliano. And yes the freezing was worth it although I had problems with my hands shivering:-)

annemette, congratulations for your image. I love how you composed the scene, starting from black horizon and fading from orange to blue with dark clouds, and their reflections on building glasses. Only looking at your photo, the building seems not so ugly, but light and colors of sunset give them a touch of magic. I think your shot refounded your freezing! ;)
congratulations
emiliano
