The earth can be indeed awsome but still it takes a good eye and skills to capture some scene this way. Such a live picture with details that make the trees look almost touchable! Again, I would take more street and less sky to avoid that uniformity of the upper part, but it couls also be that the light would change significally then.
Very well captured, Hugo!

Hi Hugo, I'm in the middle of trying to find a new optimum Usefilm posting formula myself. I was fairly comfortable with my manipulations and re-sizing in my old version of PS. Now, I'm using a newer version with a new LCD screen and Win Vista. I just posted a couple of tests of a detailed subject to see which looks best. I would appreciate your opinion if you get a chance. Hi Annemette,
you've made me (painfully) aware I haven't had a decent look at the map. I meant the Oresund-bridge, but I might as well take a few snaps of the other one you mention....:) Thanks for the tip! I'll plot it into my car navigation...:)
Cheers,
Hugo

Oh you must be thinking about Storebæltsbroen, the long bridge between Jylland and Sjælland? It really is impressive. You should be able to get some good shots from Fyn from the parkinglot right before going on the bridge. There you can walk out along the water and take photos. The bridge between Denmark and Sweden is called Øresundsbroen, and it´s situated near Copenhagen. Good luck on the weather and shooting:-) Annemette

Hi Andre,
I have thoroughly examined the larger print again - this time at 200%; and yes, there seems to be a slight blur in the image; not that it's poorly focused, but more of a tremor when exposing; it doesn't show in print, yet in the image, it's there....:)
Cheers,
Hugo

Thanks for your comment; it was a spectacular day; the storm created some beautiful lighting effects, and resulted in a day where I just didn't know where to look; it was just "awesome"!

Hi Saeed,
Thanks for your comment and feedback. What camera settings would you have used? Just curious; I checked the EXIF, and the settings in the about are the actual settings used; they seem fine to me. I remember reducing the aperture to get the shutterspeed up a bit, as I didn't have a tripod, and the gust of wind made the trees move....
Cheers,
Hugo

Hi Andre!
Good to be back, too - for as long as it lasts....:) Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated....
About the sharpness, I replied to Max, too. I'm not sure what causes it, as I can't see the unsharpness on my screen(s); and the printed version is razor sharp. I only reduced the size of the printed version, added the frame before I uploaded it, so it's not a workflow issue, either... Weird...:)
Cheers,
Hugo

Hi Michael,
Thanks for your feedback; I'm not sure I understand what you're referring to; what little flare did you have in mind? I feel a bit ambiguous about it; despite the light and the dark clouds, it's a rather static classic landscape type of image, but that's what it is about. An eye catcher - or that little flare you mention, would change the type of image, as well as the dominant subject; wouldn't you think? Just curious...
Cheers,
Hugo

Hi Max,
Thanks for your eloquent feedback... I have printed this one, and it's been used for a calendar, and it's razor sharp; apart from the loss of detail due to resizing the photo, I can't see the softness on my screen, either. It might be a monitor thing. One thingis for sure, it doesn't come out as well on a 1900 x 1600 screen as it does in print either...:)
Cheers,
Hugo

Hi Stef,
Thanks for your comment; it's not an easy crop, as the tree on the right leans strongly towards the edge of the photo, leaving a lot of negative space. I'm happy the way this turned out, though...

At first glance, the dotted road lines struck me as throwing the shot "out of balance", however the atmosphere created by the storm clouds is overwhelming to this piece. The mood is set by the sky and the remaining natural lighting on the foreground landscape, but the action is in the background. Best wishes to you Hugo, I hope you're around for a long time. I enjoy your work. -john

Hi again Hugo ... so glad to see you back! The road wants to take the viewer to a place with a thunderstorm - do you dare - is the question :)Great contrast between the sunny "here" and the ominous "there". Excellent as always! BTW ... good luck with the new website!!!

A good image, tranquil and easy on the eye, seems a nostalgic scene captured in excellent moody light. a bit soft texture but not a big issue for an outdoor capture. Am not sure about the parameters selection especially aperture and shutter. Nice to see you around, although most of us having little time these days. Regards Saeed

Hi Hugo! I like this one better than the last one where the foreground was a tad distracting to me . . . though the image was great overall and I couldn't decide if it was my monitor or not. This one seems to covey the light well enough where you can almost feel the open air in your hair. It's a fools errand to try to school you on composition . . . this is perfect.
Spot-on work my friend!

Hi Hugo, Great to see you back! This is a beautiful atmosphere to get this kind of a composition. I love it when a storm is brewing in the distance, but the sun and light are still doing the job in the foreground. It helps to get that wonderful luminescent look to an image. You have very strong colours which suit this imagage and it is nicely composed.
But... I think I have to agree with Massimo when he hints that there is a certain un-sharpness in the details. I don't know is lack of sharpness is actually what the problem is. I would bet that this is purely a compression problem and the original is 100% spectacular. Andre

Nice shot Hugo... Good to see you back! The colour in the foreground and the dark approaching storm contrast really well and alone this would have been a great photo. However, your inclusion of the road running of into infinity adds a compositional element, making the photo for two reason great. Sadly, however, the photo lacks a little flare or that final cherry which would make it brilliant. But still you have a great shot out of what you had. 6 MdW

Great scene and lovely colors, the dark sky adds a lot to the shot and creates a strong contrast with the trees in foreground, only I'm not sure about the lack of sharpness in my 800x600 resolution, don't know if it's real or my eyes are so old ;) Bye, Max
