well let me know when you are coming this way...there is plenty to see in very short distances. The beauty of western Canada is that there is a huge diversity of visual possibilities in short distances...then there is the Canadian Rockies..no need extolling their virtues. Although i will say they are far more dramatic here then in the USA
Cheers

make sure you give me a call when you get out here.. I am retiring this year (June 30 bring it on..) nothing would delight me more than to take to the sacred lake and spend a few nights around a bottle of red yarning about photography and life Cheers mate ..keep up the good work!

Hi Roger, Yes i was guessing that u had a philosophical perspective for what you were submitting as your portfolio reflects this.....and yes, i have come to the conclusion that i am going to try to comment in ways that speaks my mind and maybe is helpful for the prospective recipient and also helping me in attaining a perspective for myself in understanding what the photographers direction is as well as mind set. Thank you for replying constructively. I hope to visit sometime and feel the age of the land where even the wrinkles in the land are dust.

yeah I should have cut the sky out in this shot like I did in some of the other verticals.. think colour masses and you will start getting closer, I am concerned with colour masses in this shot and yeah should have cut the sky as it simplifies the composition to a point where it becomes untenable.. thanks for the view and the real comment

I have to agree with Wez on this one. The composition has a promising foreground but nothing of interest to draw my attention further into the distance. Also a stripe of water that large, without a reflection, or just some kind of visual element within it to help my eye in furthering the journey into your image becomes a barrier instead of an aid of visual support. Again it it might have helped somewhat if it was later in the day.....but hey I know that might not be possible depending on how far in you hiked this day.

Hi Roger,
You have a great portfolio, but i think this shot just kind of falls flat.
The light isnt great, but thats not your fault. The problem i see with it is that there is just nothing to really 'see' in the shot, no point of interest if you get what i mean.
Your other shots of Cootapatamba are far superior in my opinion.
Regards
