Very interesting "about" and very suggestive composition. I like the foggy weather and the b-w tones here.

Oh you suggested the historycategory? Well done as I have often thought about this as a good category for many shots. I´m glad you like this, Doyle:-) Best wishes Annemette

*LOL* Your comment makes me think of movies from the time of the ROman Empire etc. where the actors are wearing modern watches. You´re absolutely right that it can be very rewarding keeping anything modern out of such photos. In this one I kept my daughter there because of the idea of her playing in the past:-) Thanks for commenting!

Oh so you walk in the footsteps of Shakespeare?:) I imagine the feelings and thoughts you must have when walking the very same way in another time. Inspiration from the past is good to bring into modern life.

Annemette - this is perfect! Wondeful to wax nostalgic on history . . . I always do and it was one of the reasons for the addition of the new Historical category. You have captured it perfectly here!! LOVE the B&W, the unique framing - and the image. Standing ovation!!!!

You have captured the mood of the ancient place nicely. Photography has a way of doing that for us. It seems very natural to reflect on previous generations when viewing images taken in this type of place. Whe I do similar images, I like to try and keep all modern things out of the image. Not always possible but it works very well to enhance the ancient mood. Andre

I love this, Annemette... the words you've written and the feeling I get from this photograph remind me of how I feel when I go to take photographs on the banks of the Thames... I heard a while back that Shakespeare was supposed to have strolled down to the river from the Globe Theatre and often walked along the same stretch of ground... I always try to imagine him there, a torrent of words forming in his fertile mind... 'To live or not to live... no... to be or not to be! Yes! That's great! Oh William, you are a smart fellow, aren't you?!'
