Hey Thanks Robert! No noise reduction at all . . . I've never gotten a program that will do that . . . Heck, I'm still on elements. :)

(I'll enjoy the game and hope you do too . . . but due to Robin's influence we're rooting for DA' BEARS even though it seems an unlikely win. Besides, MY team isn't playing!)

Who said you were ahead?? ;)
That's a very true and very complementary comment Kara . . . and I appreciate it. This old soul was at a zoo . . . but I don't feel sad for him. More like a retirement home and well deserved easy life. Huge natural pen . . . a vet on call . . . free food . . . and he had a few companions too. Not so bad really! :)

This picture is fantastic but it makes me really sad. I'm not sure why; perhaps the expression on his face? I don't necessarily think that's a negative thing, in fact quite the opposite. The amount of emotion an image can evoke can be a great measure of the greatness of the shot. I'm rambling now, though, so I'll stop while I'm ahead. :) Kara

Thanks Nil . . . where ever they're from . . . they seem to me to symbolize ancient creatures . . . both individually AND as a species . . . long lives and they never wake me up too early in the morning!! Wait a minute . . . I wonder if there's a connection? :)

I know you don't like the B&W . . . but it does emphasize the ancient history of this creature I think. And I appreciate you didn't ask to bring this humongous creature home . . . (I'll be marking the calendar)! :)

Thanks Joe. It's as you said . . . B&W is a better medium to convey (or emphasize) texture and form than color and that's why I presented this in that manner. As it happens . . .the drab colors from the pen were almost monotone anyway and I composed this shot from the beginning as a B&W composition. Riny's Dutch comment above was much the same and (as I told him) I'm at work or would have added a photo in color to the comment . . . but it's not available to me here. He was, indeed, resting but would ocassionally swipe up some dirt for some reason. Thanks for the comment.

Doyle -- way cool guy, he is. Nicely done and "shady" looking for just the way he must like it. B&W an excellent choice. He looks like he could be a stone statute. --Best to you, Jan

Very nice shot of the tortoise. Details show up well in B&W but my personal choice without seeing the colour version would likely be for colour as I am a colour person. Is he just resting? Well done. Regards.
