I have used photoshop:
on a new level I have designed one squared selection, great almost as the whole image
I have applied to the selection the shading command with percentage of 20 - 30 pixel...
Filled up of black color the selection.
In order to end I have reduced the opacity of the new level until obtaining the wished effect.
with the tool "eraser" and with a soft brush, I have "dirtied" the final result
I hope of to have explained the procedure well... Ciao!
