Rory Love the perspective and match of title to composition. You know me from a long time ago. Good to see yer still shooting and submitting.

Love the effect of the slow shutter speed and aperture choice. Reminds me of those really bad migraines, when the whole world feels out of focus. Tri-X produces wonderful greys, which suits the "Henri" cat. really well. Congrats on the award, but more important on a superb image.

Nice use of DOF, and slow shutterspeed in combination with movement and activity. THe boy seems to be edited in, judging from the outline of his hair in front of the window. Although I'm normally not a big fan of over exposed areas, I think they do serve a purpose here. It creates a very ambiguous atmosphere. The crisp light hints at a beautiful happy day, yet there's something depressing about this image. Very intriguinhg, and again a highly creative image. Very strong work.

Cheers,

hugo

I like everything this, even the title is great. Such a common scene made surreal by the perspective and the motion. Very good work.

Original and Amazing.

I looked through your portfolio, you look young.

Yet, already an extraordinary talent.

very moody...!!!

Unusual composition. Wonder if it was cropped? But what I like is that everything in there is doing its part - nothing is unnecessary. (Lighting: I see your scvores on the lighting are lagging - but to my mind, the harsh lighting addis to the impromptu feel of the whole thing - it's a sort of snapshot on steroids).

Remarquable idea and angle and composition. Another winner. I agree with those who thought the light was a bit harsh. Harsh fits, but perhaps just print on less contrasted paper. VERY good otherwise.

This one just sings Aurore. There's a glaring reality about this scene, but you've captured and contained it very well -- truly "snapshot as art" and I think that's really hard to do. For that reason, I wouldn't tinker with any of the hot whites, I think they add to the atmosphere -- which, by the way, I think is just wonderful.

wow...i really really like this one, the movement is fantastic. The tones and contrast are perfect except for the chair...it completely detracts from the overall feel...a bit too strong of a white.

I love this one!!! The composition, the movement of the lady, the croping of the kid, the focus point you've chosen! The only thing I can put my finger on is that the lightest tones is a little hot, but I dont mind:) Very good!

ok, I am gonna try this again. I really like this a lot! Love the face in the foreground. The movement is wonderful! The composition is very very good. Did you bump up the contrast? There are areas that are pure white. Can you perhaps burn them in a little? Oh yeah, one more thing: "!!!!!!!!!!" .. hahaha

John Strazza   {K:11535} 4/28/2003
just wonderful ... the frame is rich with content, some elements visually blurred but still clear in meaning ... tones are fantastic and really bring this image to life...
