Dear Natalino, sorry for delayed reply. I was wery busy with life! thanks for your kind comments. I had a lot of air travel inside iran and I have a lot of arial photos.
about that desert you interested in its name is KAFTAR, the width of desert is about 80km and it finish just by mountains (you can see in the photo) and there are cold water spring... I have passed this desert by walking !!! if you want to see more photos from Iran you can visit following link

Thanks for your kind comment. I got this photo early morning when I was flying above FARS province in Iran. Usulay there is no snow there... height of this chain should be less than 2700m from MSL and strarting from 1500m. I could not capture the lake behind the mountain...

Dear Roger, it is because of climate. there is a great difference in tempreature in top of mount and at the base that cause such natural contrast. it happens in warm climate.
