Hi Dave... thanks for the info... maybe I'll get a chance to scramble up it one day? Looks pretty imposing from the bottom though. Well, next time you're in Kimberley, look me up! Cheers, Gary
Kimberley, a great city, we go there every year or so with the kids.
I made a mistake, this is Crowsnest mountain, like the pass. I climbed it about ten years ago, it's an uncomplicated scramble. The route is nicely described in Alan Kane's book, "Scrambles in the Canadian Rockies". However with the wife in tow this year, a repeat didn't go so well, and I faced a mutiny. Fortunately I fared better than captain Bligh, and we still had a memorable dayhike.
Hi Dave... Wow, I didn't know that this was called Castle Mtn too. There is already one up in Banff. The one on Baffin isn't really a mtn and I just made up the name myself (for obvious reasons)!!
I now call Kimberley my home... only about 3 hrs to Lethbridge. I really like driving the Crowsnest highway, watching those mtns get ever closer and closer!
They call this one "Castle Mountain" too, just like that one you shot at Baffin Island.
Glanced through your portfolio, today. You've posted some very creative arctic images, Gary. Looks like we are distant neighbors, I'm from near Crowsnest, Lethbridge. Where's your home base?
