Wow J-E! Now that I see this . . . a couple of things come to mind.
First - I see why the wife's version of the tree was posted. I'm changing my vote there to match Shirley's polical one . . . they're BOTH nice. LoL!
Second - there are complex designs in the outfit and in the BG too . . . one or the other should be changed to a simpler, solid tone so there is not so much to distract the eye from the lovely model . . .
Leaving at least two or three feet between the model and the BG would help . . . as would opening the aperture a tad . . . blurring of BG adds definition and impact to the model. Even using a larger lens might help narrow the DOF . . . which would also soften the effect of the competing complexity in the BG design. With the dark hair . . . I might look into some back lighting to accentuate the hairline definition around the perimeter and also help to pull the model from the BG.
Just some ideas for you to consider my friend . . . uhhhh . . . make that my 'lucky' friend!

Oh, John Eric,
I meant to tell you that if you bring your subject out from the background about another 2 feet it will give the shots depth and help get rid of any shadow,
