Wonderful idea and image! I love glass and to see this part of its beauty is brilliant. The shapes and colours within the weight and then within the bubbles!

After seeing this fascinating photo, and reading the comments, I'm all inspired to try some macro shots with my new D80. Haven't tried macro with it yet. Love this photo, dear Aniko!:)

Aniko this is very nice, those bubbles really pop out at me. I love the colour changes and the effect the bubbles on the ohter side of your paperweight have from this view, creating a wonderful comparision to the crispness of those that are closer. Very nice indeed!

But how do you KNOW these things, Dave??? LOL!
Glad you like the macro. My cameras are never totally dust free, but they will be getting a better work out. I've been having fun reworking older pics in PS, shooting a few oddments here and there, posting a few, but I seem to have found some new inspiration... for macro photography! I need to get away from portraits for awhile... :)Well, until my niece models for me again anyway...
Great to hear from you Dave. Thank you.
Warm Hugs, Ani :)

Okay, Ani, time to come clean with the truth. This was in my backyard over the weekend, showing all the UFOs heading for Roswell, right?
(cool macro, and great effects. Hope you are dusting off all those old cameras)
Hugs, Dave

Hi Michele and thank you! :)
I'm really getting a taste again to shoot macro... I have so many bits and pieces in my home, I think my next obsession might just be macro details of rather weird and wonderful "things". :)
Best Wishes to you! Aniko :)

Very cool image Aniko ! The bubbles trapped inside the glass have an interesting reflection and I love the color. Very good macro shot , and quite unique , also I like the vertical crop. Well done .
Best wishes, Michele~

Thank you Nikko!
It is in the crop. To keep the green and include the bubbles, I had to leave the clear part of the glass at top left. The paperweight is a tallish oval or rather egg shape and it was shot on the window sill with very strong backlight. I do see your point and thank you for mentioning it. Constructive comments are always appreciated!
Warmest Wishes, Aniko :)

Thank you so much Daniel for your kind comments.
I just had someone else mention that an image of mine was not sharp enough... lol!
On my monitors (I have 2 and check on each before posting), they don't appear too sharp or too soft. I truly believe that viewing photographic images via this medium is hit and miss. Each monitor will "show" the image differently. You must have a very good sharp monitor Daniel:)
And again, many thanks for your interest and for taking the time to comment :)
Much appreciated, Aniko :)

Lovely image dear Aniko. I really like the 'greeness' of the photo. Maybe you could tone down a little bit the top left corner because it seems a little overexposed. Other than that I think it is a beautiful shot dear. Nikko

Very interesting shot, I find it a little too sharp, so I think it has lost a little.
I love your choice of cropping

Thanks Colin!
I love macro work and am only really just getting back into it. The DOF was not as intentional as it appears. It is very shallow, but I admit to liking the effect. Could not have shot this hand held had I used a greater DOF, as shutter speed would have been too slow and I had been up all night and was really tired when I noticed this on my 5 minutes past dawn retreat to bed. (lol)
Big Hugs my friend, Ani :)

ROFL Bek... Indeed, we are normal... (By the way... what's "normal" mean again???)
I appreciate your kind comments a lot! I also saw the bubbles as mercury! Wonderful interesting toxic stuff that it is... lol... Now I want to go play with mercury and photograph it... I had my mercury confiscated...:( Perhaps I can break open a thermometer!! Hehehe...
I will come and look at your ghostly image at once!!!
BOO!!! :) Ani :)

Thank you so much Erik!
I believe the shallow depth of field has caused the subtle apprearance of the other bubbles, but I don't mind this image too much and was unable to hand hold for a greater DOF image. My shutter speed would have been too slow.
Warmest Wishes and appreciation for your interest and kind comments, Aniko :)

Silly schmilly!! You have a paperweight on your window sill, I have bardi-grubs in my freezer, normal Ani...we are normal! I love the darkness at the base of this, and the few bubbles on the black look like balls of mercury, excellent light and great clarity for a hand-held!
hugs, Bek ooh p.s. I had my own ghostly image appear (ok...somewhat helped out in PS) in some water shots from the weekend! Boo :O
