Still, excellent timing for the breaking wave, Sandra, and a dramatic shot. Dave.

Hi, You've captured or managed to capture the waves hitting the rocks, this is good, however, the placement of the lighthouse is not the best. Have to agree, a "thirds" placement is needed to make this more stronger, move the light house to the left , it would also have given you more of the wave splash and the rocks on the right. As it is it feels cut off and the viewer wonders what's on the right side.

Greeting Christian, Maine is a beautiful place, Your are right i should have croped a bit more off the left for better placement of the lighthouse, considering the lighthouse is over 1 mile from where i am sitting it actually looks good, if i use my teleconverter lens i would have missed the waves breaking. Thank you for your kind observation and suggestions. best regards, sandra

Hi ! Are these from Portland MA ? I Iwas there in April. You had a chance to take some fine views in the area. The exploding wave is perfect : good stop in time and great exposure. The lighthouse on the other shore is troubling though. I wonder if it is part of the statement or if it just happened to be there. If it were bigger (using a telephoto would create that), or set in one of the sweet spots (thirds), it would have played a more explicit role in the frame.
