I can imagine how beautiful it is up North Greg & this is just a slice of it, wish file size were bigger but great capture nonetheless. Thanks much for the kind comment to my image & gear, regards.

This spot is accessible only by boat in Jasper NP on Maligne Lake. During the early 1900's an amateur photographer/naturalist patiently waited three days at this particular spot to capture it's magic light. The image spent the next several years in storage until he decided to enter it in one of EastmanKodak's new photo contests. After being awarded the Grand Prize he was asked the title of the shot... to which he explained that this place embodied the "spirit" of the Canadian Rockies and announced it's location as "Spirit Island". Kodak enlarged that winning photo to a billboard sized mural which covered a wall of Grand Central Terminal in NYC. Millions of people travelled through the terminal each day. The "island" is reputedly now one of the most photographed locations in North America. Or so the story goes nessa! Thanks for asking (and thank you for your comments) -john

Thank you Kes, I had such high expectations for this shoot. I hadn't planned on the gloomy, rain/snow that day. The unique atmosphere was still there (just not quite as bright)-john
