The title kind of says it all. In the older part of central Kyoto a canal runs along the Kawaramachi Dori (Street) one block from the river. It's a beautiful quaint little waterway.
I took this picture at night using a Canon EOS Rebel XT 8.2 using a tripod, an aperature setting of 5.6, smartfocus, no advance, and shutter-speed of 6 seconds. This was a tricky shot to do, but I feel I managed to capture the depth of the waterway, and the lively crowd and neon-lit shops on the opposing street.
Using Fireworks I found the image to be slightly blurred so I opted to increase the contrast slightly as well as the image sharpness. If you perceive this as an inaccurate shot, I meant for it to appear that way. This picture was taken at 1AM and the scene was 3 times as dark. The shutter speed helped create the light, and the shadows contrasting so sharply.
