Jonathan, I agree it's not composed perfectly. I liked how she looked at him and it lasted maybe 2 sec, just enough to take a shot through thick glass of the cage. That is kind of reportage from the zoo :)

I think this is a wonderful shot compositionaly where the eye follows the Beauty & the Beast who is looking at the camera. The caged Beast has a sad look & the Beauty is giving it an affectionate look. The title goes very well here. Lighting is always a problem in these extreme contrast situations.

I like that it seems like that you are in the cage with the gorilla. It sort of shows his (or her) point of view. A couple observations: I know that you cannot give the gorilla much direction but I would have loved to have see its hands (I like hands). Also I wish the bars were parallel to the frame. Another thing is that the human figure behind the bars should perhaps be burnt in maybe 15%. She looks really washed out.
