Yes...of course, our cats were indoor-only. But too many are let run free.

Oh yes, I understand perfectly, Cathy! We almost lost Cotton at one time before the final time came. I had to feed him through a stomach tube for weeks, and he was so good about it...so sweet. He did recover from that and we had several more good years with him after that, for which we were most thankful. He lived to be over 15. At the moment, I have no pets, and my life is too complicated to have any, but maybe in the future.:)

Shirley, I think there is something about cats that get right into your heart. I recently lost my youngest cat that I had delivered, given mouth to mouth resuscitation, to get her to take her first breath, carried her around in my bra for three weeks when she got diarrhoea at 4 weeks, expecting every breath to be her last(being raised by a german shepherd was not ideal healthwise). The hole they leave can be huge. Even though we still have 2 of her sisters and our original 19 year old Burmese, each one has a place in the heart that cannot be filled. I empathise with your loss, but it is the depth of our emotions that make life worth living. CC
