About Castlerigg stone circle in the English Lake District is actually remarkably difficult to photograph well and is nearly always photographed as a panoramic and quite often in black and white to add drama and mood. Naturally being fickle and Scottish I decided to try out this mellow alternative. Soft lemon light of Autumn painted the grass and distant slopes already turning rusty from the bracken. It was the soft light and decision to include only some of the stones that provides a slightly different perspective on a popular subject. Please visit my website at www.transientlight.co.uk

The ancient ones sure had a peculiar way to get us confused. There's a lot of different explanations of the use of these stones and circles.

I love your landscapes because you give them a new life! Here, these stones look like having been invited to a Scottish festival and then they found it impossible to leave. The lighting is lovely embracing the stones in a lemony tint. The background slopes are like an autumn quilt, but in earthy colours. Wonderful capture!

I find these ancient sites enthralling. I have never visited any, although I would love to. The background looks as though you have added in a water colour painting. Beautiful. CC
