In St. Bernard's parish, people left behind interesting things...or maybe rescue workers left them. In many houses, in a neat pile in the middle of the main room, there are mementos of peoples' lives. Pictures, bibles, certificates, albums...things that were once important to people, and somehow still are, however, now in a different way.
I call them Memory Piles.
On the window sill of this young boy's room, stand trophies in basketball, soccer, and tae-kwan do, signs of accomplishments possibly forgotten in the wake of the on-rushing water.
