About No child was harmed during the making of this image! Honest! :) The original photo was of a cheeky child who poked his tongue out at me, and it made us both laugh that i had captured it on black and white film. The image was good, but then I became "creative" with it. Perhaps it is now confronting. Shot in camera under mixed lighting.

I am definitely drawn to this image.
Haunting and powerful despite the humorous back story.
The eyes just pierce your soul!
An image that makes you think.
Excellent.

Hi James.

Yes you understand correctly that this is a photograph of a photograph, with added elements (like a "prop") and shot under mixed lighting. I achieve many effects in a very simple manner. As long as the resulting image is pleasing to me, I am happy. Many of my photographs that appear to be very complex, were in fact extremely simple to make.

Thank you for your interest.

Warm Wishes,
Aniko :)

Do I understand you correctly that this is a photograph of a photograph?

Many thanks, Mary. This is the same child as in "My Brother's Cap". Yes, his eyes are very strong and striking! And he loves the camera :)

Warm Wishes,
Aniko :)

This is so strong and so striking. Those eyes like they will break through anything! A great idea and image Aniko.

Thank you so much for your thoughtful and most generous comments, Mohammad!

This child has wonderful deep dark eyes and I have photographed him quite frequently. We got on very well. He really was poking his tongue out at me in a funny way. I know it is difficult to see that since I "altered" the image, but it was all in fun for the child, the parents and for me.

Just goes to show that things are not always as they seem! :)

Warm Wishes,
Aniko :)
