It's not a picture of a vulture; it's an image about how you feel when a vulture stares knowingly at you. I like the DOF because it makes it less literal and more figurative. It also makes the image somewhat disorienting to look at, which is brilliant. I love images like this because they demand an emotional response.

A very cool composition indeed. I agree with the observations about the slight deepening of the DOF. I think that if you had enough DOF to get that eye razor sharp this would be an unbelievable image. Still, you had a great eye for this composition. Well done.
