With all of the breath-takingly beautiful areas that you have managed to visit - it is a wonder you were even able to concentrate long enough to take photos. I probably would have missed a bunch being too busy just drinking in the views. So many of your shots really make my heart ache they are so beautiful. Looking through your photos sure makes me appreciate how lucky I am to be able to see and appreciate the wonders of our Country and other parts of the world as captured through your photographic talents. Thank you for sharing your trips with all of us. Do really like the cloud movement in this shot and the colors in the sky are outstanding!

Hi Lisa...got very little sleep on that whole trip...LOL! I actually grabbed a few hours at a rest area before capturing this sunrise...I was hoping to make it all the way to Arches for sunrise but there was no way that was going to happen so I played it safe. :)
As for filters...none for this shot..the halo effect was really there and not something that the lens did on this one. :) There are only four filters that I ever use if any... A Polarizer and a 4X Neutral Density Grad filter and a 4X or 8X Neutral Density Filter; I actually just started using the ND Grad filter on this trip and I loved it. I also will be using the Polarizer less often than I used to; it will really depend upon the situation and what I'm trying to achieve; ie. reflections on water/or lack thereof. :) As for the lens hood...I know I should use it all the time but I get lazy at times and don't. I will definitely use it if the light is hitting the lens though to avoid glare. :)

Do you ever get any sleep when you are on vacation. You're up at the crack of dawn until nightfall taking images.
Gorgeous sunset and the lighting on the clouds is very nice.
I tend to get halo's when I shoot with any kind of sun in my images. Do you use a lens filter? I heard from a local Canon rep that they never shoot with a lens filter. Do you always use the lens hood?
