About
This strange little building lies north of where I live. It's a tiny and ancient old school house from Victorian times. Having been closed a hundred years, it now stands idle and host only to the wind and the ghosts of school masters gone. With it's single downstairs room and one above it's almost a doll's house in full scale. I pushed open the rotten old door and stepped into a dream.
I can't decide between this and 'Island Life' as my favourite of your portfolio - you've got some very nice pictures :)
Love the colours here, and the blurring edges. It really focuses attention on the building. To me, in mind of your title, it brings to mind a long-past attendant of the school returning and seeing a sharp memory in the blur of the new landscape; itself only a transition to a new scene in which the old school house will still remain unchanged.
I really like the burnt out effect here... suits the subject well. And the about, I found interesting.... sets my imagination alight with pictures of children playing in that grass in their victorian clad.
I grew up in a village hall, which once had been a school house, though much bigger than that above... & on the side a plaque to say, once a famous landscape gardener, Capability Brown, was schooled there.
Though ghosts indeed haunted the old stones.. & childhood memories return by the score.
Again... I love the photo Nice to see you've joined up x
