Thank you for your comment Sam.
I was truly lucky at some of the animals I saw; especially considering how close I was able to get in order to capture scenes like this.

Thank you for your comments Cathy.
The big cats were certainly the highlight of my trip, although as you may have guessed from my earlier shots in the portfolio, cheetahs are my favourite.
You are in fact quite correct in your observations, the leopard was only really dozing on and off and quite aware of their surroundings as displayed by another image I captured at the same time attached below.

I love big cats and this image is just delightful. He/she looks so soft and so cuddly, tho I know how coarse their fur really is. Perfect background, lovely detail-even the whiskers at the back are discernable. He's sleeping peacefully, although the flattened ears show he is aware of his surroundings and his battered ears tell their own story. Love the pose! Cathy

Thank you for the comment Paul.
Yes, my 300mm was my longest lens, but with the multiplication factor of the D70s it was as good as a 450mm. But yes, I was quite close. As per the cheetah shots like “A Morning Moment” and “Wet and Cranky” I was probably only about 20-30 feet away. All the credit should go to my guide he was amazing.

Wow! Was 300mm your longest lens? You must have been fairly close for this shot, then.
