This is Antequera's most impressive church, from the outside,with Roman Baths in the foreground.I like the way it emerges ,like a great ship ,from the clouds.
Gives the impression that the hand of God is about to come down and smite something, doesn't it? The orange clouds swirling around a hotspot seem to indicate a center point for some mythical tragedy to sprung, and the redness of the foreground indicates danger, chaos. Has more of a Roman feel, like Mars, the God of war, than a Christian feel, despite the presense of the church. I definately like it, though.
Tony! How wonderful of you to share this image. We just heard a lecture on the church itself in my Ren Art Histroy class this morning and I've just showed the instructure; your image. She's and I both, are most impressed.
