Clever composition here, how you let the structure in the foreground frame the boat! Nice summer mood in this pic!

I love the composition Gayle and the thought put into the shot....I always recognise a good mono conversion when I see it as in this case but I think I am too great a lover of colour and too big a failure in what little work I personally do in conversions. There are so many wonderful elements to this beautiful waterscape. I particularly love the diagonal lines of the pier with the horizontal lines to the flooring and vertical lines to the posts. I love too the way the pier components converge to frame the sailboat. I think a slight crop at the top could be good but what do I know I always get criticised for my crops:):):) A lovely composition my dear Gayle. My very best wishes to you....Ray

Nice comp Gayle! I'd have to see it both ways, but I think I might agree with Toshi on the crop. I think the choice of b&w is a good one...adds to the mood. Kathy

Hey Hey Hey, Ms. Gayle. Great work! Man, the pier leads you right to where its supposed to. The b&w contrast works well in leaving the subject highlighted and adds to the leading of the eye.
Again, great work,
Dave

Brilliant geometry. Great conversion and tweaks. I'm a bit partial to this style contrast/tonal range and it really works well to enhance the elements in the composition here. Yeah, nice work there hippy chick :) Talk to ya soon...
Cheers Rina.
oh, I'm not sure I've made any sense at all up there. The words just seem to be jumbling up before my eyes, so please excuse any ridiculous comments I may have made...

hi there and so nice to hear from you again! I debated about cropping down from top,but wanted to hear feedback first....tho' it looked ok that way,it seemed to be a tad too tight of a crop...am still undecided, but always appreciate your opinion....thanks!

A solid black and white conversion Gayle - it definately enhances the dramatic lines created from the pier. I really like the composition as well, in terms of the pier - how the lines diagonally lead the eye towards the sailboat on the water. I would only suggest a slight crop up top as the empty space kind of leaves the viewer hanging. Other than that slight nitpick, wonderful shot.
