Hello. Its amazing what only becomes evident when someone else points it out! Thanks, i shall try to improve on these two as i think there is still some potential that can be squeezed out with photoshop. Thanks for the hlep guys, photography is definately more fulfilling with improvement. Nuwan.

This is a nicely framed image, but the problem I see is that the clouds are much brighter than your subject, and the eye keeps getting drawn upward.
If you applied a slight gradient layer to darken the sky, it would help keep the focus on her.

Goran, there is definately more lighting on the subject, however I did want to preserve the yellow-ness of the sand in the picture, which is lost if i brighten the bottom part. Nuwan. Is the black and white version in my portfolio better?

Here's my version: on the lower part I djusted the histogram, and on the upper part i used the Clarify effect from PaintShopPro v.9

Hi Martina. What do you think about the black and white version of this same photo? I think the b & w convey the "lonliness" better.

Hi James. Yes there are plenty of ways i could experiment with this pic with cropping and light. Have you looked at the black and white version of this picture (Lonely Beach). It is a horizontal version. Please tell me what you think. Thanks! Nuwan.

For the image at hand, I think a closer cropping would give a better final product.

Beautiful picture!! Graet shot. I agree with Goran, more contrast and sharpness would be a big adventage. Best wishes:)

Hi. In fact i used a simple Sony cybershot DSC-L1 for all my digital pictures. I find that it takes shots with good clarity and equally good color that i dont need to invest in a larger camera. There are no filters at all that were used, or that can be bought for this camera (it houses a retractable lens). However, you are quite right. More lighting on the subject would have been much better, and im going to give it a try in photoshop when i get the chance. What do you think about my black and white version "lonely beach"? Thanks. Nuwan.

Very good composition, but I would prefer a bit more light on the girl, and more contrast in the clouds. Were you using a polarizing filter?
