Tim, i understand what you mean, but i mention to the details because of making quiet atmosphere to show his loneliness better!

Thank you for your comment, kiarang. I didn't like the detail in the dark area, but I may try a repost anyway when I have a chance. I appreciate your opinion.

Nice angle and contrast,
but i realy prefered to see more details in the dark part to find the atmosphere.
just it!

very nice low key, the man stands out very well... The angle of capture is unusual, it is a different perspective, the large black space is a mystery as to what the man is viewing..
nice composition!

Thanks so much, Randy. I posted it this size only to ensure that the whole image fit onscreen. I completely agree about the seductive strength or weakness of thumbnails. I'm sure I miss many great images because the thumbnails don't do them justice! I'm glad that you chose to look at this one.

Thanks for commenting, Paul. I deliberately reduced the detail, preferring the more enigmatic effect of the darkness and leaving completion to the imagination of the viewer. Nevertheless, I may play with this image again and see where it goes. Thanks for your comment!

Thanks, Bill. I took this last week on a Lake Michigan car ferry. I always move around the boat and shoot but rarely get anything to really get excited about. This trip reminded me to always have a camera close by!

I like this shot, but wonder if you had revealed some detail in the dark areas above or left of your subject if it would help me complete the image. I like the low-key exposure chosen, Tim.

Tim - This is an excellent image. I like it in B&W and the composition is perfect. I find myself staring into the dark space searching for the anything that may pose a danger. Is this from a lake ship? That is certainly the feel I get.

Again, a great shot with a compelling feel.

Fantastic image. I only wish you had posted it larger. I'm really surprised at low comments on this, it may be that thumbnail doesn't draw attention. I think composition and light/contrast is exceptional, revealing just the right amount of information. The viewer and the old man looking off into the darkness together.
Well done

Thanks so much, John. I was surprised by the possibilities from this recent outing, a good reminder to always have batteries charged, camera loaded and ready. I'm glad you appreciate the finished image.
