About My son gave this lil' garden gnome to me with a mini book of gnome facts for Mother's day and so i thought i would give him a moment of fame at UF..hehehe

Shot in my backyard on top of a boulder
Desat background and then toned it sepia
Changes via paintshop pro8

Did ya know that Gnomes do not have heart attacks nor go bald?! ;>

Hi Gayle,

gnomes are called "garden dwarves" here ;-)

Any hey, you know Amelie and the gnome story? That's the part I like best.

Thilo

Very cool image Gayle . . . My wife LOVES these little guys. In fact, they outnumber our silverware I suspect.

Unique photo. I forgot to tell you that I enjoyed your series of "self portraits". Most attractive to a photographers eye.
Kroger Film is made by 3M I think.
As much as I dislike WALMART, no one can beat their prices on film. i.e. Five rolls of Fujicolor 200 for 5.46 Dollars.
Your photo heare looks great however.

Hi Gayle,
Did you know gnomes are always born as twins? Saw your exchange with Rina, thought you might like that little tidbit. Too cute, love the selective color!
Take care...Robin

Thanks,cookie!...actually i read in the mini book of gnome facts that the prank you mentioned started in the 1980's in Australia long before same appeared in the fabulous "Amelie" film!
i'm hoping to get the bigger sized gnome that is same,or similar to Amelie one for my June birthday
...fingers crossed! ;>

Oh this is just perfect Gayle :) Not a foot wrong in both technique and post work. Yup, and I thought the rock was a skull too. Very cool... reminds of a prank a few years ago, where these guys pinched gnomes from people's gardens then took photos of them at tourist spots around the world. They'd then send the owners back 'postcards' featuring the gnome! What a cracker

Thank you for the beautiful gnome lyrics! they sounded familiar, but i had to look it up to be sure...They are from "David the Gnome" show which was shown on Nickelodeon (now the Cartoon network)
back in the late 80's to mid-90's...very sweet of you to surprise me with the lyrics! "Lucky" the gnome says thank you, too!
hugs and peace,GG

Great shot Gayle!
I was attracted to this one at first because from the thumbs, I thought it was a gnome beside an animal skull. I thought what a great idea! Turned out to be a boulder, but still wonderful. I like the sort of semi-fantasy effect.

hehehe...thanks for comment, dear Thilo...no vignetting tho'...the selective focus gives that impression i suspect by blurring the edges...what are gnomes called in Germany? i want a bigger one like in the film,Amelie ;>

Hi Gayle,

well, LOL on this one! What a strange subject, but perfectly presented. I like the reduced color palette and the vignetting effect.

Hugs, Thilo

"Look around you. There are many things to see, that some would say could never be.
These things I know. It's true and I will tell you so. They are there to see, if you believe.
Trolls and wizards and fairy kings, birds that talk and fish that sing.
And if your heart is true, then you will find them too.
In every wish and dream and happy home, you will find a kingdom of the Gnomes."
nice shot and great mother's day gift.peace dear GG
