Well done Ingrid! Certainly fulfills the project description nicely. The shadows captured here are, in fact, quite dramatic. Were you able to meter this scene or was this a "shot in the dark" on exposure.

Maybe it's because I like night shots so much, but I think this is gorgeous! The exposure and composition are right on the mark, and I really like how you focused on the shadow falling over the snow, rather than just the tree (which I think most people are inclined to do).
At first I was going to suggest sharpening the photo, but I think I like the softness better. It makes the scene a little more atmospheric and stylish. Just out of curiosity, what was your shutter speed for this shot?

Gorgeous use of backlighting. Small detail, but I feel a little distracted by the light spot above the big branch to the left of the trunk.
