...this is quite good Shiela, the composition sits well with me because you have the subject to the left of the frame (not slap bang in the middle) so you obey the law of thirds here, the baseball mit adds interest and meaning to the shot, he is a little bit close to the top of the frame but ok, the boys head and cap are ever so slightly out of focus while the glove is less so and I really quite like that but not sure if this is deliberate.....your shot is nicely framed and presented which is a plus, well done. cheers, david.

Sheila: I would try the head/hat combo only . . . and see what happens. This is still an adorable shot and child!

Thanks Doyle.
Yeah, I was thinking that this might be the perfect photo to try that unsharpen mask that you told me about. I just wasn't sure where to apply it. Do you think I should just select the hair and face, or do you think I should include the hat too? Or, do you think I should do the unsharpen mask to the entire photo?
Thanks for all of your great help! -Sheila

Sheila: Stunning. Wonderful work. Rather than sharpening . . . try the unsharpen mask on the head area only . . . I agree about the soft dreamy look fitting the soft focus, but if you want to improve a hair on the focus be cautious about over-sharpening and the subsequent noise it might bring. The unsharpen mask will likely work better here and, incidentally . . . this is stunning!

Hi Dave,
Thanks for the comment. I think it might be a tad soft on the focus. I considered sharpening it, but then I thought that the soft focus kind of went with his dreamy look, so I left it. The more I look at it, the more I think that his face could use a little sharpening. I think I might play around with it and see what I can come up with.
Thanks! Sheila

Great colors and lighting. Certainly worth keeping for those memories. It feels a tad undersharpened on my moniter.

Lovely capture Sheila, very natural candid shot.. his waiting is really seen and felt. Lovely pose, can't help but smile, he's a very cute little boy. His gloves seems so heavy for him that he has to rest them on the ground... : )Every time I look back at the photo, it brings a smile, it's really wonderful looking at this capture.. : ) :>) :-) great shot!
