Yes, is true that thay can appear as a mistake...I will remake the picture without that pictures!
In the future, I will add more pictures from this series, because I have some more and others from my other still life projects!

I did wonder... in that case I might suggest lending a touch more light to the background pieces (in such heavy shade they run the risk of appearing like a mistake, which is clearly not what you have intended). Maybe instead of using light to amplify the separation between the one and the many, DOF and maybe the background pieces being aligned on squares while the foreground is not would work better.
Still a very strong image though - I look forward too seeing more of yours in the future :)

With the pieces in the background I wanted to amplify the feeling of loneliness, in contrast with other pieces that are part of a group, and not beeing so lonely because of this.

I like the concept here - you have a talent for strong black and white shots. I think perhaps without the faint shadows of chess pieces in the darkness of the background this would convey your theme of loneliness much better.
Makes me want to take some chess photos though!
