Hi John,
my opinion: this is really a great picture!
My comment: I'm not a photographer, I'm involved in a dutch company as marketing manager, but I wish I was a sailor, a photographer or... just someone who lives around the world and use his "art-skills" to communicate, so... just keep improving, you have a talent!

All the best,
matteo

p.s. thanks for your comment!

There is a special timing to this photo that is missing in some of your other photos.

I love the prolonged exposure to the movement of the water. Especially the wave in the background. The black foreground has a neet effect and the lighter background a hopefull feeling, even though the prominent travel of movement is into the darkness, there is much to be seen in this photo.

I can see why you choose this as your best.
The sepia adds the perfect touch.

John, what an awesome photo. The composition is extrodinary - it depicts the solitude of the seascape... it shows truely how majestic the sea can be!

John,

I wish I had your talent when I was your age. I would not be breaking my back firefight as an old man today if that was so. I have enjoyed several of your shots. I do agree this is one of your best. The title says it all. Very good job. (9)

I agree with Kita, Makes we want to get a nice bottle of port, head to the ocean and just take it all in.

Very nice

it is a photograph that transports you straight into the seascape, that makes you want to sit there and think, that perhaps makes you slightly melhancolic because of its brooding character-it is an excellent photograph
