Not a bad place to spend a year in the bay! I was just down in the Marina today shooting! ...and all over the bay...
I'm so glad that you love the shot! I just love SF, and so ahppy that my work relocated from Marin to SF, so now I get to see the GG bridge, and the city every morning on the way to work! ...sadly, it's $5 a day to cross the damn bridge these days!
Keep checkin in on my portfolio... I'll always have pics of SF showing up! I have a few from today that I'll put up as soon as I can!
thanks again! and thanks for making me a friend!
cheers, -Joel

Hi Joel, I love this shot. Apart from a stunning image it brings back memories of when I lived in San Francisco from 1983-5; the first year on a yacht in San Francisco Marina nearby. Beautiful! Cheers Janet Marie ;-)

Hi Joel,
This is a b***ch alright... The overcast day, the slight haze flattens the image, and casts a nasty distance queue over it (distance cue?) I've tried to fix these kind of photos taken with a zoom lens but to no avail.... Maybe Michael K. can pull some of his magic, and I'm sure he'll gladly have a go with it, and, as you know, He's gooood.
It seems you've tried to dodge the dome of the palace and trees a bit too much, as the image shows a lighter and noisier area around them, specifically noticeable in the large size image
As to the composition, I think placing the palace a bit more off center would create a less static image, but I guess that's besides the point here. The vista and presentation, not showing the horizon is very good, and I like how the palace stands out, especially considering the difficult situation.
Cheers,
Hugo

Thank you Ron!
When I captured this, I had no idea how much detail there was going to be till I got home and opened it up. Lessons I learned here... tripod, and keep the stabilizer on. Good luck my friend! Have a great easter! looking fwd to seeing what you grab with your lens today!
cheers, -joel

Great shot Joel. I'm taking my 100x400 with me today. You continue to show me how to use it. Thanks. I would never think that you could get such detail from so far away.

Thank you Jeanette!
The city is restoring that Palace of Fine Arts, and had just painted the dome a few months ago...so now it glows at sunset!
So glad you like this!

Yes, SF is *super* small! All my friends that come visit from around the world are shocked by SF's size. It's about 12miles x 7miles!
..and that's why it costs so much to live here! it's insane....but at least we're not LA ;)

Hmmm ... billboard signs ... I can see a few but I can´t read them! I was surprised to read in a book that SF in itself isn´t that big, but the SF-Oakland-San José area has more inhabitants than Finland :)

Thank you so much Elisa! I am so glad that you like this! ...it's a crazy image at full resolution. You can read the billboard signs! I have a new found attraction to super long lens images, beacuse of how it stacks everything up like this.
thank you for making it one of your favorites!! :)
best, -joel

WOOOW, Joel! The palace works fine as a sun here, and I like how you placed it in the center, contrasting well against the dominating bluish tones! There is so much to look at; a fabulous pano and a great presentation of SF! LOVE it, added to favs!
