Joggie:
Very, very good points: - the color is Adobe 1998 and is brighter in the native color space. I'm too lazy to perform the conversion. - DoF: Yes. I do not have a working flash (yet). I am looking at the "same" system you have - Telephoto AF Micro Nikkor 105mm f/2.8D, and a Sigma Ringlight Flash. This may help a bit. Would you recommend the 105mm or a smaller lens like a 50mm? - Here is a simular shot, don't know if you prefer it.

A beautiful macro Michael - The colours are beautiful yet a little dull. I suggest a small increase in the brightness and contrast to give it more punch. The selective focus works well although I think the background patterns of the flower centre and the pollen anthers are too strong and compete with the stamen which is the main focal point (though not a very strong one). A greater DoF would bring the pollen anthers into focus and release that tension - making the larger centre of the flower the focal point (not sure if I express my point clearly). Otherwise great and a pleasure to look at. Regards. Joggie
