You are braver than I...no way I'd get this close to her. Amazing macro, though!

This is obviously a great picture. Being an arachnaphobe, I can't look at it without a bit of nerves. Most pictures don't bother me, so this one is exceptional.
Thanks for the comments.

Hey, very cool. After you commented on my black widow pic I looked up some red back pics but this is way better than what I found on the internet. Nice pic.
Great photo Bruce!

Nice macro Bruce. An unusual looking spider, very pretty in her own way! Susie

LOL! I'm not arguing with that spider...:) I couldn't win. I'm sure she thinks it's a beautiful web, and I assure her, that it's better and more beautiful than any web I've ever made, so who am I to argue...
Cheers,
hugo

Hi Hugo, she probably thought her web was beautiful, not cluttered at all - and she looked well fed so it was at least effective.

Hi Bruce, thanks for the explanation... I didn't try to imply the clutter is a bad thing. As usual, I was merely thinking out loud. Can't blame a spider for the quality of her web, heh?
Cheers,
Hugo

Thanks Hugo. The background is painted corrugated and reinforcing iron - and no flash was used - I moved it so it was in the full sun, but I do agree it is fairly hash light. As for the clutter, these spiders make a very messy cluttered web so perhaps clutter isn't such a bad thing!

Hi Bruce, I like the contrasts in this photo. The blue not only works nicely against the tones of the spider, but also the contrast between natural subject and unnatural (feel) of the background. Good shot, although the shadow of the flash makes the photo a bit cluttered.
Cheers,
Hugo

Thanks Ashley, yes nice colours but very poisonous, it didn't survive much longer I'm afraid.

Nice colours in the spider. I like the depth that is created by the shadow in the background. Nice capture.
