Thanks for your comments Kostas, Nitish & Ian - Yes I agree with Nitish's play with the curves - It does affect and enhance the "Fire Water" effect.
Cheers!!! Ashok

Old photo I see, but I just found it in the comments section what a pity such cool shots can be lost in time here! I like Nitish' job on your shot.

Very interesting capture. I'm sure you already know this, but underexposing by about 2 stops would have kept the black background truly black. It is a very beautiful image. I used photoshop to adjust the curves - here is the result. Hope you like it.

the composition is good,in my opinion, and I like the focusing choice Ashok has made. I don't find a reason to try having everything in focus since the main point of interest is the 'fire water',right? Lighting could be better, but I don't know if then it could render the flame well. bye Kostas

Thanks Jim and Becky for your valuable comments... I agree with both of you and should have done better. I'll see if I have another version to post.
The blue glow is not a secret at all... it's just flame on a cocktail called "Flambed" created by -Blue Curacao in a cocktail of Tia Maria, Tequila and Cointreau and set on fire.

In a way, I agree with Jim, although on the other hand, the shallow DOF makes it feel as if the top part of the glass is floating out of the photo. It creates a bit of a three dimensional effect (though I imagine this could still be achieved by bringing the bottom of the glass in focus while leaving a majority of the table out of focus). What I would like to see is a bit more space at the bottom of the photo, so the glass isn't pushed right down to the edge of the frame.
So what's the secret? How did you get the purple mist to appear? It's really intriguing!

I like the shot but I find the bottom of glass being out of focus distracting. I think this would have been a better shot had you had more DOF to bring the bottom into focus. Best Regards, Jim Gamble
