I know the composition might not be the best here, I was struggling to take this with one hand, while I was holding my two dogs leashes with the other.
I wanted to capture some detail in this old shipping vessel, which I found very interesting is it was made mostly out of wood. Taken on a very windy day in Guernsey; Mar 18
I find the composition appropriate and effective in capturing the layers of complexity of this kind of scene. The effect is displayed also in the weathering of the boat--not only of the steering house, but also of the wood siding. Sometimes, the instincts kick in and provide a good sense of spontaneity in the image. That's what happened here, I think, and the result is strong and attractive. Good work . . .
Hi Ciprian, sure this photo has a few flaws in it's composition, but considering the position you were in, I think this turned out pretty OK, good details and textures. Why not head out there with out the dogs (or with someone for you to hold them)?
I think shooting restrained is a very good exercise, though. It forces one to shoot quickly. I found that zooming in more on the subject increases the success rate of single handed shots. Also, I wouldn't even begin trying to keep the camera level, and introduce a tilt on purpose. The one thing I do keep in mind when I take these shots is to roughly judge camera position and angle, to be fairly sure of getting the subject I'm shooting...:)
