Sorry I missed this one! It's a really lovely sunset scene, almost tropical (well, that tree could have been a palm...) I never see sunsets like that here.

Thanks again for your input Andre. Of course I should have taken several different exposures. I need someone there to constantly kick me in the rear I guess. ) We were kind of hurrying to get these shots since we were on someone's lawn...but next time I will play with the exposures for sure! A reminder from you that is very timely! Susie

On the thumbnail shot of this the tree looks like a Palm Tree and with the beautiful sunset behind it I thought you were on vacation on a tropical island! I love how the sunset is reflecting off of the lake. Good shot!

Hi Susie, I know what you mean. I like the bright areas in sunsets too. But like someone else told me once, you shouldn't sacrifice detail in the name of brightness. It happens all the time in the darkroom. This image is good, don't get me wrong. But imagine how much better it would be if you could detect some slight rays coming out of the bright area. Next time you try sunsets, try taking three or four shots of the same scene with different exposures and you will be surprised at the variety in the sky. Andre

Hi Andre, Thanks for your always honest critiques. I'm not sure what to do about the bright sun on the water either. I guess that would be a subjective one, I kind of like that brightness in a sunset shot. I enjoy the input though! )

A lovely shot, Suzie. When I first looked at the thumbnail, I thought you'd been to the tropics. The tree looked like a palm. I like the convergence of the boat's mast with the line of the tree trunk. Best wishes, Steve

Hi Susie, From the shape of the tree in the thumbnails I thought this might be somewhere in the Carribean. Excellent clouds in this shot. You have a problem in this one that I get all the time in some of my sunsets. The area where the sun comes through is just a little too bright, without enough transition. I'm not sure what you can do to make it better without having the rest of the image suffer. Andre

very daramtic sky, the sunset color and its reflections creates a good mood for this scene. I agree with Douglas about his comment on the border and the tree but it doesn't diminish the image and intention of the photographer to capture the mood of the scene... nice find, great shot!

Two sisters...standing nearly side by side snapping shots of the same sunset, and they are so different...yet so much the same! I like the subject matter, and I agree with Don...in the thumbnail that looks like a palm tree. As far as Douglas goes...don't have a clue! I'm with Ray on that one...finally gave up! Ray's suggestion for another crop sounds interesting, though. I think it would look great that way, too! Nice post, Sissy! I'll probably post mine in a day or two. Kath

I love that wonderful and dramatic looking skyline you found Susie and the reflections on the almost mill-pond surface look gorgeous. I tried ever so hard to understand Mr.Coffey's reference to a harbour, but gave up in the end. A lovely setting sweetie, so peaceful and calming looking. I would perhaps have cropped upto the left of the tree and up closer to the bottom of the boat. But, you know me well, I get so many of my crops wrong, what would I know. A very beautiful looking study my dear Susie. I have this picture in my mind of you two sisters out and about with your cameras and it isn't photos lurking around it's the two of you My very best wishes to you as always and I am pleased by the hints and reading between the lines that THE CAFE is sucessful and limiting the mischief you two girls might get up to if you weren't so busy. Good luck to both of you and a big hug for each.....Ray

This a true and honest critique in chronological sequence:
I love sunsets ...
The thumbnail stated the border is too wide ...
The eye is drawn to the shimmering light upon the water ...
I respect trees but there is too much trunk ...
I enjoy sailing but one little sailboat and a jet ski doesn't make a harbor ...
The buoy line reminds me of 'Barbed Wire' ...
We definitely do have a somewhat dramatic sky though ...
