oh well, thank u Hugo for comment :) i'm not so able writing in english but i try: my intention was to emphasize my kid's shyness. he is not so simple to capture, and so, i've find him stand up to the sunny windows and i've take the picture in a very decisive moment. i convert in bw tones because i'm making some experiments to improve my technique in bw.
Hi Eleonora, There's something I don't really understand with this photo. What are you trying to achieve?
As a children's portrait, I would expect a bit more brightness, details and such, matching the kids innocence. Yet the image and pose, especially in B&W create a moodiness and enforce an atmosphere on the image that doesn't quite fit a toddler. It creates the feel of a smoky back-alley bar, if you get my drift.
Sure, it's a good shot, technically, and the lighting is great, but it doesn't quite fit with the kid. Or, if you intended to take a picture of your son, the lighting, and pose do not quite match...
I think the main reason for this is the rather excessive blackness in the lower left part of the image. Maybe cropping this section a bit tighter would solve it - partially.
