This image was taken in the predawn hours of Sep. 15, 2001. The camera was using my LX200 telescope as a long telephoto lens. When the moon is a crescent, the dark side is illuminated by light reflecting off the Earth, hence Earthshine.
This is gorgeous Taras! Thank you for your comment on my "moonshine" pic by the way, I really appreciate comments on exposure issues since I'm a complete beginner in astronomical photography. Keep up the good work!
