Your time was very well spent in the processing, Ina. I very much like the exposure/contrast and also sharpness of this one. And the highlights place a contrasting a certain accent on the decay, which does all the more to also accent the beautiful blue sky reflections.
I understand from your comments that you did not intend blue & purple. I may not be seeing the same thing on my monitor. I do see sky blue and with some teal hues on all three image sizes, but no purple. Gamma does vary quite a bit from monitor to monitor so many of us are seeing something a little different than you are.
I feel that in the end, all beauty is in the eye of the viewer. I would not like this image nearly as much without the blue hues in the reflections. Clearly others see it differently, but to me the blue suggests life and a larger, purer world, even in the midst of this decay. On another level it suggests to me that outdoor elements that are responsible for the decay, beautiful though they are, and so in that way I think the blues further the theme of decay and impermenance.

Thank you very much Mark, this is the one that I spent most time processing. I didn't intend the blue and purple, if you read the other comments, but in the medium / small size they add a happy complementary color. I did selective coloring - worked in small sections on this at night, and my eyes didn't catch the blue - it is strange why in the large version it doesn't work, but in the small version it has a natural look... Live and learn! Thanks for the comment, nice to hear from you, Ina

My fave of the Studebakers you have. Something about the decay combining with the pretty blue refelctions. It's working for me.

Ina, you're being way too hard on yourself with this one and don't you dare hate it!
Good grief, it's only just a touch of colour on the chrome PEOPLE!
And if I may add a further two cents, before looking at the about and other comments, I had assumed that this was exactly as you had taken it and thought that's just how old abandoned cars look. Rusted, dirty and peeling chrome. Perfectly wonderful...
Don't sweat the small stuff. Rina

Thanks Michael, I was pleased with this until I saw the odd blue colors on the chrome, which I never intended. The other shots are (1) pretty much straight out of the camera, full frame w/ minor color/ contrast/ sharpness adjustments; and (2) a straight crop with minor adjustments. This one is fairly processed :)

Thanks Kathy, you're probably seeing this in medium format, in the large size there is blue and purple lines on the vertical chrome. Also, in the medium size the sharpness is lower, I can't tell you why!

Thanks very much dear Robert, I messed-up on the chrome parts, you probably don't see it too much, but in the large version I got too much blue - oh, well, I'm glad you like it! Best regards, Ina

Ahhh...dear friend another outstandin detailes from your "studebaker" car. Very nice old style car with fine tonal and rusty surface. Love the subtly tilt composition, great idea the assymmetry compo. The chromium-plated parts and lamp are superb look. I think this one a great abstract shot. Well done dear Ina! :)
Kind regards! Robert

Hi Hugo, I didn't see it either until Jeanette pointed it to me, and I've been staring at this screen long enough! It is less visible at night, but really bothersome in the daytime! I guess it's another lesson not to post at night, because of the ambient light we see the colors and contrasts differently on the monitor. It happened to me more than once!

Hi Ina, Intersting... Only until you mention it, I hadn't seen the colour shift in the chrome. I don't think it's really distracting, though..

Thanks very much Hugo, I messed up the vertical chrome pieces, and a bit on the headlight, there are blue and purple colors that shouldn't be there, but I couldn't see them till after I posted :) I angled it and followed almost the 1/3 rule, vertically and horizontally, almost... :))) Best regards, Ina

Hi Ina, The subtleties are eye catching in this one, the slight tilt being the key element for me. Great faded look, and a beautiful match with the previous two. Great feel, and great comp. The textures, especially the subtlety of the belt dangling out from under it's hood. Superb details and textures. Great shot, once again...:)
Cheers,
Hugo

Jeanette, thank you so much for pointing out that blue and purple line, I didn't see it! Now I see it, and I hate it! It was late at night when I worked on it, and somehow I missed it, I should know better than to work at night, the colors look different - Too much Photoshop for my eyes :) Thanks for your great comment, Ina

Thanks Andre, I don't know why I didn't change that blue cast, now it bothers me, but I won't repost. I work in the evening and don't see the colors properly. Duh! Thanks for your visit and comment, I could spend hours on these as well, I like these old cars too! PS - I shot some fishermen in waders on the weekend, the weather was great, as you know, and the winter colors turned out really nice. I'll post one this week. But no luck with owls :)

Nice abstract crop of an old car, in fact i lov old cars, all old objects that brings memory´s...has patina and so on. I like the old rusty surface and your crop. The metal feels little strange though, the blue i guess is reflected sky.. in one way it works as a complement against the brown, but it feels too unreal...somehow!
