I agree, outstanding composition. No cropping. The composition is good because the emptiness on the right adds to the loneliness. By pushing the child to the edge of the frame, you are increasing the anguish. The diagonal formed by the eyes (eyes not level) not only gives the idea that she is turning to see us but also that she is sad. The hand near the face indicates shyness. This is a masterpiece.

Hi Saintz, Great portrait of Hy. Very strong composition and the light is also spot on, but for me, it's the (rather blank and emotionless) expression that makes it tick. She seems to be testing you, yet with her mind elsewhere. Good touch of including a bit of her hand too!
